Michael Hoffman is the owner and lead auctioneer of Hoffman Auctions, bringing nearly 25 years of experience to estate settlements, business liquidations, real estate sales, and asset appraisals throughout Ohio. As a licensed auctioneer, personal property appraiser, and REALTOR® with Re/Max Consultant Group, Michael provides comprehensive solutions for executors, attorneys, business owners, and families navigating complex asset transitions.

Michael holds six professional designations awarded by the National Auctioneers Association Education Institute, representing advanced training in auction marketing, real estate sales, estate management, personal property appraisal, and benefit auctions:

Michael is a licensed auctioneer in the State of Ohio and a licensed real estate salesperson (REALTOR®) with Re/Max Consultant Group, providing both auction and traditional real estate services.
Appraisal Practice
As a Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA), Michael provides independent, market-supported valuations for estates, fiduciaries, and legal proceedings. His appraisal practice includes estate and probate appraisals, trust and fiduciary valuations, guardianship and conservatorship appraisals, divorce appraisals, tax donation appraisals, and select-asset valuations. Assets appraised include household contents, antiques and collectibles, business equipment, vehicles, and specialty personal property.
Michael prepares appraisal reports in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), as applicable, and other recognized professional standards suitable for probate and estate administration, fiduciary reporting, and court review. He personally conducts inspections, market research, analysis, and reporting, and serves as the primary contact throughout each engagement.
Court Approvals and Specialized Services
Michael is an approved auctioneer and appraiser for the Franklin County Probate Court and serves as a Private Selling Officer (PSO) for court-appointed asset sales. His extensive experience includes estate resolutions, foreclosure auctions, business liquidations, and government surplus asset sales. He has completed assignments for executors, trustees, guardians, bankruptcy trustees, attorneys, and municipalities throughout Central Ohio.
Professional Education and Service
Michael is a graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI), a three-year executive education program conducted at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He has completed extensive continuing education in real estate auctions, personal property appraisal, estate management, digital marketing, and auction technology.
As a former instructor at Reppert School of Auctioneering, Michael has trained aspiring auctioneers in bid calling, auction management, and professional practice. He is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) and the Ohio Auctioneers Association, where he previously served on the Board of Directors.

The following designations are awarded by the National Auctioneers Association Education Institute and represent advanced professional education and demonstrated expertise in specialized areas of auction practice.
Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI)
The Certified Auctioneers Institute is a three-year executive education program conducted at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. CAI focuses on the business of auctioneering, including strategic planning, business development, financial management, and organizational structure. Participants complete intensive coursework, case studies, and practical projects across three successive years, with curriculum designed for experienced auction professionals seeking advanced business expertise.
Accredited Auctioneer Real Estate (AARE)
The Accredited Auctioneer Real Estate designation provides specialized training in real estate auction marketing and execution. AARE coursework covers targeted marketing strategies, digital advertising, audience targeting, brand identity, search engine optimization (SEO), reputation management, market research, and effective use of digital marketing tools for real estate auction promotion and buyer engagement.
Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA)
The Graduate Personal Property Appraiser designation provides comprehensive training in personal property valuation according to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). GPPA curriculum covers appraisal methodology, market research, comparable sales analysis, condition assessment, and report writing for all types of personal property including art, antiques, household goods, business equipment, vehicles, and collectibles.
Benefit Auction Specialist (BAS)
The Benefit Auction Specialist designation focuses on fundraising auction management and non-profit event planning. BAS training covers in-person, virtual, and hybrid event formats, client consultation, donor engagement strategies, auction item procurement, fund-a-need campaigns, and best practices for maximizing revenue at charitable and benefit auctions.
Certified Estate Specialist (CES)
The Certified Estate Specialist designation provides training in estate liquidation and transitional services. CES curriculum covers estate evaluation, asset identification and cataloging, estate sale planning, marketing strategies for personal property and real estate, client relations, and professional practices for serving families and fiduciaries during estate settlement and life transitions.
Auction Marketing Management (AMM)
The Auction Marketing Management designation focuses on digital marketing, brand development, and online audience engagement. AMM training covers marketing campaign development, social media strategy, search engine optimization, digital advertising, reputation management, analytics and performance measurement, and strategic use of marketing technology platforms.
